Whoa.....Strange thread
LOL - just read the past day of this thread and love it. A couple of my own comments. If the captain wants to look sexy fishing with other guys - give me a heads up before I get on the boat.I try to have at least a couple of shorts and shirts that aren't splattered. My wife washes my fishing clothes separate from the rest of the families stuff. I can't get myself to spend more the $40 on a pair of shorts - but I call myself a tightwad. My wife bought me a Columbia fancy button-up fishing shirt a number of years ago. I love it - I even bought a couple of more. Those shirts are the only fishing shirts that I have that start fishing clean (the bloody and gore come clean). Butterfly jigs - see the point above about me being a tightwad - if I see it working, I'll make the plunge. Flouro - use it when it helps (and sometimes when it doesn't). Visors - I get it, just can't wear them due to the middle-aged dude hair thickness up top. Sandels and barefeet in the cockpit - all the time. I usually slip them on when something big bites.
Now what gets me is the high price of fuel and the oil companies making all that money - and don't get me started about insurance companies...![]()
Pelagic- There shorts look new after a year of trying to ruin them........worth the extra 20 bucks IMHO?
Butterfly Jigs- Sure Shimano's are pretty and the definately work well when called for....you don't like them, get some cheaper ones....$25 for a jig that saves the day with a nice Tuna.....priceless!!
Flouro-Makes a night and day difference occasionally, I have switched from 30lb to 25lb fluro before live baiting tuna and went from an o-fer to 5 fish in an hour just from that....incidentally my buddy was fishing 25lb mono and after 1/2 hour switched and also hooked up...there is a time and place for most major items in our fishing world huh?
CaptJosh- If he was not sponsored by many of these companies like Melton/Pelagic/Avet, we would not have the luxury of getting some of the how-to's he provides as he is able to fish more because of those sponsors. Not too mention I frimly believe that there products are made better because of people Like JT using them and giving feedback to the companies!
Accurate- overpriced I agree, certainly many people with big $$$ fish them just because of that (not my problem good for them), however, there is a cost involved in creating and developing new technology...just look at AVET, cheaper and worth every penny IMHO...
It is up to each angler to make his own opinions and choose what he/she believes in or doesn't. Opinons are an important part of this and a healthy argument on many subjects is good for the sport. That's just what this is....a healthy argument with a little sarcasm thrown in...Enjoy it!!!
I will continue to ROCK my Pelagic gear, fish strictly AVET's where possible, use butterfly jigs to save the day, and not give a damn what anyone else thinks about it, because I use these products strictly on the principle that I am getting my monies worth. My Pelagic shorts(first pair) are over two years old and look like new, my Avet's all look like new because I clean them after every use and because they are well built!
Just my 2 cents.....great thread guys!!
I gotta say you guys know how to focus on a subject. Five pages about shorts and visors and ain't nobody mentioned a word about Crocs.
Dam!! This thing is still going on?![]()
I agree, I don't get Crocs, but they did go down in history as the fastest growing apparel company ever!!!! That my freinds is something you can take to the bank, like they did in Scarface - sacks & sacks of money!!!!
