That is great news Mike. Chappy certainly looks content. I would be lying to you if I said I bet he learned his lesson.
Brady is getting big at 8 months old. I need to get him on the scale, but I would say he is pushing 70 ponds and is strong as hell. He is dealing with a blow to his freedom. I recently installed an invisible fence and he is curtailed to stay within a couple acres. Plenty of room to roam, but his days of freely socializing with all the neighbors dogs are over. We have 6 houses on our private road and they all have dogs with invisible fence containment. Brady was mister social and would make his rounds to play with all. We needed to put an end to that for his own safety. Now we are debating the wisdom of getting him a chocolate brother for company.
Here is a shot of Brady enjoying a day at the spa this winter. I am looking forward to getting him on the boat and fishing. Come on spring.....
bennscu, the pic labeled "Gus,. 3 years old" is a classic. You can read his mind and he is thinking, "Where are we going? Am I invited? What are we doing? Will it be fun???" I love that thought process in Labs.
getreel, Brady is going to be a big boy!!! Chappy is a small guy. He was 62 pounds at ten and half months. He dropped down to 52 pounds before the surgery. He is back to the upper 50's now. But I never see him breaking 75 pounds unless we get lazy in the exercise department.
The recent flooding in Mass and RI (that I am sure you know all about) has caused the marsh in the back yard to over flow. Chappy thinks it is his own private swimming pool and he likes it... my wife, well not so much.
Good idea on the electric fence. My old dog ran through the electric fence daily. She was a tough girl. Chap is a wimp. He is scared to death of the fence.
A wet lab is a happy lab!! Brady looks like a real swimmer. Chap so far has been a flopper. He will jump in a puddle or a stream and flop around. He will not "swim" very far. That may change this summer...
