Getreel,
Sure, the puppy is going to be lucky, but your family is going to be even luckier! Lucky dog, lucky kids, lucky Mom, lucky Dad...Long live The Labbies and the love and joy that they bring us!
GF,
Thanks for the look at that Chopper Man. I feel kinda like his uncle and you cannot imagine the joy that I feel when I see him and see him so happy, content, and training his mistress and master so well. Good goin', Chop...Shadow Girl is watching, along with another very special one whose name I get too choked up to write right now.
But I hear those tails 'athumpin away up there and I feel the love and joy at seeing that their gifts to us are doing their jobs.
Good dogs!
Agitated88,
Leggo! But I don't think you have to worry about him running off with any Labbie gals. Oh, he might paddle off for a one pond stand, but he'll be back where the chow and the "good boys" come from, grinning from ear-to-ear, of course! (Good thing they can't talk, especially if there are kids around!)
We saved a bunch last week with the sales of the marlin books for Tred. We didn't announce it, but we made the decision to dedicate ALL of the sales of the Marlin Book, less the standard 15% that we donate to Lab Rescue, to Tred until further notice. And we are seriously considering donating the same 85% of the sales of ALL of the books for maybe a month or so. Tred is in dire need and of course, so are the lost Labbies. I will always help the Labs, even after I'm gone, but now Tred is in big trouble and I MUST do what I can for him too. Watch for the announcement.
(I am talking about this on this thread because I truly believe that dog lovers are among the best of our kind. We still aren't sure that we can swing this all books thing, but it looks pretty good. Stay tuned.)
I know it's been a little while, but as Hooper nears his 9th month I thought I'd post a few pictures. In addition we had a very "memorable" day at the lake a few weeks ago. Lets just say for about 10 terrifying minutes I thought I would need to transform into David Hasselhof. Long story short...he went past the toy I threw out for him straight for the middle of the lake and proceeded to splash around in circles and eventually become disorientated. I eventually ran to the OTHER side of the lake where I retrieved a very exhausted puppy. I don't know what the record is for running the mile, but I'm sure I came pretty damn close as I circled the lake to the other side.
Ted...when you find those classes for your wife please let me know...I need to enroll fishergirl as well.![]()

funny that this thread came to the top today because as i type my dads dog is having puppies right now. so far we there are 5 females and 1 male all pure chocolates.
Ag,
Koa will do the same thing at times. Thankfully she will respond to whistles, hand signals and screamed commands.
Have you worked on blind retrieves with Hooper yet? Even if you never plan to hunt over him, it is great training. It may take a bit of time to get him to trust your signals, but once he does, you'll be able to direct him without having to break out the speedos...
Hooper is looking great
Great Pics.... Hooper looks awesome!!!
Capt Archer...thanks as always for contributing to this thread. I did let him go...he didn't go chasing any chica's, but he did put one hell of a scare in me out in the middle of that damn lake.
Fred...still working on the retrieving, but AF business has been busy to say the least. Trust me...if Hooper ever saw me in speedos he NEVER come home!!!![]()
Thanks Ted...I'm pretty fond of him myself! Right now he's all legs and holding steady at around 75lbs. Not sure how much taller he will get, probably just start filling out now. Again, one of the best decisions I ever made. As you can see from the pictures...he's pretty much done with the crate, its all about sleeping with us now.![]()

You know I noticed on the picture of Chopper eating the cake on the carpet that we still had his cage in the living room...it's been there so long I didn't really notice it when I am there in person.... the top of it became my catch all....
He hasn't even been inside it for months and we only used it for the first month we had him... last night I took it down to the basement.
Hooper loves to play fetch...his new "fav toy" is a frisbee, he'd play to he collapsed if I let him.
