Thanks Fred...I'll keep trying, he's picking up things pretty quick so hopefully he'll get this one as well.

And so will you great pups with those wonderful masters you are so lucky to have. God bless them all.

Capt Archer...always good to see a post from you on this thread. I don't worry about Hooper one bit...he has been a joy from day one and I anticipate only good things from him. I've said it before, but it amazes me just how fast you can become attached to a pet...I can't imagin not having him around...he is truly My Best Friend!

Ok...quick question for clt_capt, giantfan, Capt Archer or anyone else with advice/information. Hooper has developed a huge fascination with chasing his tail. I’m not talking about a little nipping at it… I’m talking about a full blown triple sow cow that would make Nancy Kerrigan envious and Tonya Harding get out a tire iron. He gets hopping and spinning around in circles and becomes so focused on catching his brown appendage that he’s prone to hitting walls, furniture, small children and during one catastrophic F-5 incident he has taken out the knees of an elderly woman. Should I be concerned or should I encourage this behavior and hope that ESPN sponsors some sort of twirling/chasing tail competition?

Is he chewing on his tail, or just chasing it? One of my previous labs would wag her tail in the kennel enough to draw blood, then she would chew on it...

It took a long time to heal.

Just chasing it Fred...once he gets his mouth around it he lets go. I don't think it's a big deal...he doesn't do it all the time, but when he see's it...look out. What's funny is that he sorta run/hops after it and goes from one side of the room to the other. Hopefully I'll get him out to the pond this weekend and he can shake the cabin fever.

Exercise is always good. Koa is a lot calmer after chasing the tennis ball for a while.

Personally I'm thinking that you have hours of entertainment right there....

I would think it's just puppy stuff.... just having a good time.

Grady used to do that alot as well when he was a puppy and did grow out of it.

Does he stop if you try throwing a ball or other toy for him? Or stay focused on the tail?

BTW, good luck w/him!!! Hooper is gorgeous and I love the name!
