Yes Ted, he's growning up quick. I agree with you, sometimes it seems like I just picked him up, and then again he's such a fixture in the family it seems like he's always been here.
Well I had the short leash that day and I let him wade/splash around a little bit...he seemed to enjoy it. As it warms up a little more I'll let him go out a little further.
I might need a little more explaination to that one? Do I look like your uncle or does my pup???![]()
Somehow Ted I knew that was going to happen when I saw your first post...Chopper sure is getting big...it gives me a idea of what Hooper should look like in a couple months.![]()
Great post. I had a female lab named Shadow. I guess it's a fairly common name. I selected it because my grandfather was an avid duck hunter and decoy maker, and one of the types of decoys he made was known as a shadow. To make a long story short, I thought Shadow would be a good name for a duck dog.....
Rest In Peace Shad Dog !!
Ted, does Chopper have a personality disorder...I think he really wants to be a Chocolate?Fortunately for me…other than some really muddy paws from last weekends impromptu snow storm, I haven’t had that problem...yet. Hooper is doing great…unfortunately for me, the AF has kept me hopping as of late and I haven’t had a opportunity to get him back to the pond or update his pictures. I can tell ya that he’s about 45lbs now and SPOILED beyond belief. His crate is in the bedroom with the door conveniently being left open, so he ends up on the foot of the bed most mornings.
Hopefully things can slow down a bit at work so I can really start focusing on the retrieving…he’s in the zone now and I really want to see just how smart he really is.

No getting around it..... work sucks.
Sounds like Hooper is getting big.... Chopper has slowed down on his growth spurts... I'm thinking he will go another 15lbs or so but that's it.
Spoiled????? My wife is out of control with buying him toys.... at least he's not chewing the house apart.
When you get the time post up some pictures... I would love to see how Hooper is coming along.
No kidding...if fishergirl buys one more toy for him I don't know what I'm going to do. Heck, I'm trying to train him to put them back...not sure I'm going to pull that one off. But, then again...better a rubber duckie than my combat boots. With the weather clearing up I'll see if I can get some new pictures posted!!
He will get it. You might need a few treats at first, but he will put his toys back (eventually) Make a game of it. We're kinda lucky with Koa - we can take a piece of food from her bowl - that is usually a good enough treat for her...
Koa has more toys than I had growing up... Spoiled rotten![]()
Keep on spoiling those wonderful gift creatures, guys and gals. They deserve every bit of it and you all know it. They return that simple and easy spoiling with the deepest and finest kind of love that there is. And they leave us way too soon and the hole that they leave in your hearts can only be filled by that new one each picks out for his mom and dad when he or she travels up to Rainbow Bridge, is completely healed and well again and joins that big pack of happy, great souls up there...
And they look down at their earth families with unimaginable love and happiness as they look forward to that grandest of grand days when they see you striding across the green grass and pure waters of The Bridge and leave the pack and fly across that green grass for that joyful reunion that makes both of your hearts sing. And then they cross Rainbow Bridge with you, prancing and dancing and yipping and doing that tail tucked in, run around in a circle thing alongside in wild celebration. Ah, the joy!
Cherish them as they cherish you.
And hey, Chopper, way to be a real Lab there, big boy! Water and mud - ah, ambrosia! Don't worry about daddy and mommy...you know they love you and you have them in your back pocket. And Hooper, I got a message from The Bridge about those combat boots you want to chew up...and it ain't for fun, is it, good boy? You don't want daddy putting them on again, do you? That's the message I got from The Sky Pack, anyways. I believe 'em too. Good boy, but you gotta stop. Stop worrying. He'll be okay.
And so will you great pups with those wonderful masters you are so lucky to have. God bless them all.
We saved more of them this week. Yay! Those tails are a'thumpin' away up there at you-know-where!
