My computer

I need some advice about my computer....

when I view the great videos you guys put up on this site or if I use the whole list of smilies.. when I use the shut down button .. it says that the system is busy.. so I push the button to make the program stop working so I can shut off my computer.. it locks up my screen.. then I have to push the power button and just turn it off.. then when I turn my computer back on it gives me this warning about not shutting down my computer the right way...


How do I fix this problem.. I don't want to ruin my computer..

1.Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System tools, and then click System Information. 2.On the Tools menu, click System Configuration Utility. 3.On the General tab, click Advanced. 4.Click the Disable Fast Shutdown check box to clear it, click OK, and then click OK again. 5.Click Yes when you are prompted to restart your computer.
this is for windows 98......not windows 98 second edition.

Try running your anti virus program first there are also two other programs available at www.download.com that you should be using they are called
spybot search and destroy and Ad-Aware(may also be called Ad-Aware se)I would try this first to see this resolves the problem.

so, I ran a scan on my computer and it said I had 4 possible highjacking attempts on my browser.. what does that mean? and what in the world would they want MY browser for... my browser is boring..

dang highjackers they will try to highjack anything!!

they highjack yours and send out mass emails and questionable things ...you get in trouble for it not them anti virus and a fire wall system is a good investment

I guess just some web bugs want to redirect you to a different site. that is called hijacking a browser. you click to goto www.xxx.htm and you end up at www.porkypig.com something to that effect SG. Let the scanner remove them for you

I did.. now my computer is back to full speed again

I have an anti virus and fire wall ... but I guess it is not enough. I use the bellsouth internet security package ... is there a different one I should be using?

You just need to cut down on the **** surfing and you should be OK
