john I had the 40 series flowmaster. single in and duel out. Loud, sounds good. Drones in the cab albit
Midus has a raven that is around the same sound. Also a single in and duel out. Keep the outlet size 2 or 2.5 so you do not lose the bottom end on take off. I had 3' out and thought it was to big.

I have used flowmaster befor and am not partial to the tinging sound they have. A friend says they now have a delta series that doesn't have this sound. With true duel exhaust, I need two mufflers so I don't want to go overboard with the price. Also with a 8.1 L (496CI) motor, no mater what I get it will be loud.

Magnaflow gets my vote. Had one on my last truck and it was great. Nice sound outside the truck without the drone in the cab. Had Flowmasters on a Mustang and they did sound good but too much noise inside.

Crab mustard is good
I have a 2002 with the 8.1 L, and the previous owner installed a true dual with some cheap brand of muffler, and I had the same problem you are having. Ended up installing Flowmaster's, and yes, holy crap they are loud.
