    Moving ? Storage?

My first somewhat big move, in to a rental. Some of the stuff will stay in storage at my house and some will go to the rental and I was thinking about moving some to a storage place.

Is it a better idea to place things in storage, in stead of a loft? Will there be less dust and aggravation by putting these items in a storage unit rather than the garage loft.

Never had anything in storage and was wondering what would be the best and less aggravation.

Just wondering if there is some thoughts theories or tips on moving.

Not moving far but I have a lot of stuff!

Also is it worth having a safety deposit box for tax documents, etc? Or just a fire proof storage sufficient?

Storage at least down here has drawbacks... Heat is one thing but moisture is a different thing... I have yet to see a storage place with a really good roof... If there is moisture next comes mildew. Stuff stored high has less humidity and moisture issues... Up there its not likely that you will get the kind of heat the Florida sun generates in a loft... Its not uncommon here to hit 140 or more so going too high is no good ether here...

We have a gazillion new storage units here, so I think that is not a huge problem. There are 3 locally and I think that they are building another one all of them were built in the past 2 years or so. I would think that the newer ones would be climate controlled

If there ever was a time, the time is now to trade the Grundens and sweats for a pair od DaisyDukes, a fingernail job, and some poofy hair thing---- Oh John?-- Oh Larry?--- hello big Don--- I'm having a moving party and the beer is on me-----
Ain't much theory to it--- but moving should be a snap.
BTW, If you get a Storage bin two things--- make sure the drive way and area is paved-- no gravel (dust will be everywhere.
Only rent at a place w/ 24he access-- otherwise the attendants are never there.

Don't count on it... My factory that I reopened for a few months last year was a brand new building where another had been destroyed by a hurricane three years ago. Very nice facility but it had drainage issues and water found its way in within a couple months. Ground floor meant issues especially for stuff on the floor or near walls...

As for moving stuff. ... Plan plan plan... You've seen how much stuff I can cram in my car or boat for extended trips. If I didn't map it out in my mind I'd never be able to fit it in... No air voids use every inch... Pack only enough in any one containere that you can carry without hurting yourself... Dropping a nut may not be your concern but lower back injuries can ruin your week or longer.
Several trips in a car or suv should have the small stuff done quick. If its close enough you could strap down furniture but I suggest you get a U-Haul for a day. Start early and keep going til its done. If you stop for a rest, getting started again is a bugger...

No need to trade have all them things minus the sweats, and the poofy hair thing, I am normal outside of fishing. No grundens or boots what so ever in the summer, unless 100% needed!

The moving party sounds good tho. but no real need its a work in progress, now is really not a good time to move!

The 24 hours access is something I didn't think of but the moment I would have needed something it would have been!

furniture and bedding (?) will be ok in a loft for a short time. The heat will reach over 120 in a closed loft. The items will dry out in the long periods up there. Clothes can be wrapped in plastic bags and stored in a loft. China and kitchen supplies (not food) will last in a loft.

A storage facility will handle the large furniture. Bedding, if it was me, would be pitched. I have a crazy hair about that stuff. New bedding would be bought when needed. Electronics, such as puters, surround sound, big screens should not be turned on if left in a storage facility with no heat. Bring them to the new residence and warm them up before popping the on button. So some things are ok in a loft and some in a storage facility. Right everything down and where it will stay. Fire boxes are good ! Safe deposit boxes are the best.

This is a real good idea write everything down and where it will stay.

Fire boxes are fire proof but how water proof??

My bedroom is going with me for sure, its all brand new so it would be a waste. Well at least I hope it fits!

If your stuff is not going to be in storage too long, you could see if there is a "climate controlled" storage place near you. We have a few around here - they are inside real buildings - not just sheds, and they are air conditioned/heated
    and humidity is controlled.

They are about 1 1/2 - 2 as much as a regular storage place, but your inside stuff stays good.

The ones here are 24 hr access....

    May be worth checking.
