Im partial to NC coast because I live there. The sounds and rivers of the NC coast are absolutely the prettiest coast line on the east coast.

Went to Jupiter this spring to look at a boat. Very nice. But different. They are simply two completely different places.

It depends on what you want.

    Southport

    Robja,
I have been to Southport, now that I think about it. I used to run a big Hatteras back and forth to Florida for an owner..Southport was our stopping/fuel/food point each way before or after the long run from/to Fernandina to cut off the Georgia coast..I never got further than the Marina tho..people seemed awful nice..

To me, Fishing out of Oregon Inlet/Hatteras for the rest of my life would be utopia. I enjoy Virginia Beach and the lower Chesapeake as our fishery is very diverse and nearly 12 months long but the offshore scene just to the south of us is the best (for what I like to do...Tuna).

My wife and I would move to the Nags Head area in a second but I'm raising two little ones and prefer to stay around Richmond for that (as well as I make my living in these parts and could not duplicate it down there).

I like South Florida for sure but for me, the OBX would do it.

Have fished out of Rudee and Oregon several times . You are correct Great Fishing and nice areas. just don't know if the winters are quite warm enough.
