Im kind of thinking Im going to get a new fly rod for fishing those streams for some Salmon. Got any recommendations as to what size and kind of fly rods withstand the west coast conditions? I would imagine that things are a little different out there then the 3 and 4 weights we use here.....

    Thanks,
    CFM

8wt would be a great day to day rod. Get something with a fast action (same used for saltwater). If heading out for BIG salmon, a 10wt would not be over kill... but an 8 out there you could keep with you 24/7. (just keep a pocket full of leaders/tippets in different sizes as salmon can get real finicky. When I go to Canada each summer, the 8 gets packed first. Be sure to get to spools, one with a sinking line and the other with floating. If hitting rivers with moving water, I think you'll find the sinking line to be more productive.
