LOL... personally Iggy... I think the best and most valuable asset with be in semi-auto weapons and ammo. Yea, I know..I know... sounds "crazy"... BUT

If the shit hits the fan the best item for barter will be ammo and arms... (bury your gold).

Even if the crap doesn't hit the fan... there will be LOTS of people who either missed out on purchasing the above, or can't purchase the above and will barter with something you find value in. If that is a declining piece of paper, so be it.

Keep in mind, we are the first civilization who's money is NOT BASED on the gold standard. Remember the "Emergency Banking Act of 1933"??? What happened?

If they are taking the gold and not the dollars... then there is worth. Agreed???

(EDIT: Iggy... almost didn't answer your question re: Farmland. Question, are you going to make that investment outright or finance it??? If it's the latter,

Also, there is a thing called Imminent Domain which, IMO, puts real estate at risk. Unless that farmland is in the "Banana Republic" (google that Knot4Shore, but add "Operation PBSUCCESS" to it).

I guess over the long haul this would probably hold true. I will be long gone, either dead or at sea with family. I don't want to participate in a 'civilization' that reaches this point. Damn, I hope you are wrong.

Gotta admit Galaz has some pretty interesting points and backs them up with where we can find his sources.

It's a pretty complicated thing we're dealing with and in the end, we'll get through it as the sheep most of us are. As mentioned, we're complacent and this leads to nowhere. It's just a shame that no one CEO or Wall Street guy or politician that was supposed to be watching out for this kind of thing will go to jail or have to answer to anyone. It's too deep seeded in government and business I think. The finger pointing would be endless.

Someone please educate me and explain why the middle class, the very drivers of our economy, didn't get some sort of bailout. Could this money have gone to our debt, thus lvg us with cash in order to spend said cash on goods and services, while stimulating the economy?? Anyone......?? Anyone.....?? Bueler..........

So do I... (that was for Iggy)

But to get back to your Farmland question... IF that was the safe bet, ask yourself "what about pesticides?"

Man... I sound like the Grim Reaper... or do I: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbBhqSNj_xs

Knot4... Middle Class? Here's what "THEY" want you to belive (I find it funny that THEY are making a point to address it) http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/09/02...-middle-class/ and then there's the fox in the hen house talking about it: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpag...52C0A964948260

...and then there's this cat (who I have discussed MANY times before): http://www.campaignforliberty.com/blog.php?view=11369

The Truth: There will not be a middle class. Period.

... not too different than the few who had enough with the taxation of the King and scribed their little piece of paper and called it the Constitution and Bill of Rights. When the King said, "bullshit" and came for it, he got his azz kicked and sent home back to those with nice teeth. Time for some patriots to do the same.

    Just my opinion.
