    Mitchell 302 schematic

    Hi all,
Need some assistance. Have a few old Michell reels, and just bought an old 302. Made the mistake of taking the drag and spool apart to get some old tangled line free of it, and those of you in the know will figure out what happened..it all spilled out ( washers, spring, several washewers with keyways to the shaft, etc ) and I don't know the correct sequence to get it back together, or the trick to doing it while compressing the spring. Anyone have a schematic, or can descibe how all the parts go will back properly will be aprreciated...from this old fisherman.

    Thanks

Here's some sites for info for you. I got a number of 302's and one 400 from my Dad just before he passed away 3 years ago. Refurbished them all and am still using them. Parts are not made, but are pretty easy to find on e-Bay. Couple of years ago there was a guy ran a tackle shop in one of the little towns south of Moyock, NC who had a supply of parts. I bought a 303 (left handed) from him.

By the way, to get the spool off the 302, just twist it backwards. It will unscrew. Don't take the drag knob off the top.
