    Miami fishing in May

I'm hoping that someone can give me some pointers. I just has a colleague at work ask how the fishing is down in Miami in May. He and his team of 6 people are going to be down there for a meeting and he's trying to figure out a good team building event. I think they would be looking to do a half day trip.

So my questions to the SFC faithful would be:

    1. Is the fishing good in Miami in May
    2. What would they be fishing for on a half day trip
    3. Are there any SFC sponsors that charter there?
    4. Short of SFC sponsors, can anyone recommend a boat?

    Thanks for your help!

May can be pretty good, worth the effort I'd say. Sailfish still around, kingfish, dolphin, bonitos, amberjacks maybe, possible wahoo and marlin, although they are fairly rare, especially on a half day, some sharks too maybe.
The "DEEP" miester may still be there then, I'm sure he'll chime in here 4 u eventually.
Most of my contacts are in Ft lauderdale, but can help if no-one else does.

Be advised: some folks only care if someone in the party is willing to mount a fish.

    Kahi from Miami, FL

    1. Is the fishing good in Miami in May

Can be great for Mahi and bottom fishing is solid. King fish and Sails are good to fair (for me at least).

    2. What would they be fishing for on a half day trip

Our deep water is rather close by most standards. We hit 150 feet of water less than 2 miles offshore. Its and easy run for 1/2 day and for the most part weather will determine your target. A bit windy, get the Kite up, Slow troll livies etc. A big group can bottom fish on larger boat for Mutton, and other snapper Grouper fish.

    3. Are there any SFC sponsors that charter there?

Not sure. but I charter often to learn and get some experience. 6 is a big group for our CC. I think Bouncer Smith is the best charter in Miami. His max is 4. His website www.captbouncer.com tell him K.Sabet recommended you. Also, Capt Ray Rosher is a legend down here, he's got a bigger boat not sure of the number he max-out at (I think also 4). How about a party boat out of Miami Marina? The can handle up to 40 heads or make it private. Let me know I can get you the info.

Thanks for the info Kahi! Yeah, I figured the head count was going to be the problem. I guess I'll have to do some blind internet searches...I always hate doing that

Appreciate the info dude, and if you happen to think of someone who can handle more people without going to a party boat let me know.

    Thanks again,

    Hey Shoe

Before you book, please check with me as I might be able to ask around or check in on them. Some docks are better than others as you know....Kahi
