MHC to Savannah Ga in April

We are planning to take a small 2-3 week trip this April from Morehead City, NC. Wife wants to go to Savannah GA, and visit a few places on the way. I'm just starting to look at areas of interest in GA, and thought you all might be able to offer some suggestions.

Looking for ideas south of Southport, as we spend a lot of time between MHC and there and will cover that ground quickly.

    Thanks,
    Barry

Try to stop in downtown Charleston there is a ton of history and the bar scene is pretty good. It is probaably my favorite place on the east coast.
    Good Luck and have fun.

We're docked here at Harbour Town on Hilton Head and it's a good place to come that time of year. We have all the PGA tournys going on and the 18th hole is right acroos from the Harbor. Also when you go to Savannah, just dock right on River Street and you have everything right at your fingertips.

P.S. when you hit River St., go to WET WILLIE'S and order a "Call a Cab". You'll be stumbling to your boat in no time.

Ahhh River Street and wet willies. Spent many a dollar there, as well as kevin Barry's and Bernies. Stumbled home many a night as well. Couple other places up the hill worth checking out is Ms Wilkes boarding house restaurant-a must for anyone visiting savannah(W. Jones Street), Six Pence Pub-Ploughman's Lunch (Bull Street), Jaurez-awesome Mexican and sweet tea yummm! (Bay Street).

Also if your wife and you have never been to savannah, than you must read the book "midnight in the garden of good and evil" (the movie sucked!!). The book will give you a great look into the lifestyle of the people in savannah!

PM me if you want more info as I lived in downtown Savannah for four years

Thanks for the tips! Will check them out, sure I'll have a few more specific questions once we get the plan going.
