fishing out of ocean city md i was running a private boat everyday we were returning to dock loaded with yellowfin 70 to 90 pounds there this kid about 12 or 13 at the back of the slip asking in a joyous tone how did you do we showed him the fish and he was in awl so come to find out the family was from ohio and that mark never saw the ocean well to also find out that he had terminal cancer i went home and thought about alot of things as one does who work on dear mother ocean on our rides in and out . so one morning it was early and not being awake how i dont know cause i didnt sleep all night so i here this whisper from the condos saying good morning cappy i looked up and said good morning took two steps and that 10watt light bulb went off ask the owner and this boys father if they can go the green light was on the father said he was staying so did the owner so i found two other friends told everybody that he was the first angler of the day while i put the auto pilot on and told him he incontrol of this 56 so we started out at the parking lot at boom the long rigger took off on a tld50 so the boy fought the fish for a hour and change it was a track star so the whole time i didnt here a sound out of him nothing it was a 89 pnd yellowfin after the pics and all of that eye wipped the tears out of my eyesput the boat in gear he came up and said thanks that was cool to see his smile the tide rose another 2 feet in that area so we killed our fish for the day few dolphin on the pots saw a few white marlin in the spead one jumped off i was hoping to cont the first marlin swim with him but didnt happen but he was stting the rod in the riggers and all of that out cold on the way home as always first timers but as soon as the rs wound down there he was took all the pics and they left to go home 2 days later and he called on thanksgiving to say thanks and he passed 3 days after xmas i still get choked up but thats how i got bigtuna
