    Mark Ray Thanks!

    Mark,

Thanks for the Christmas art gift. It took me awhile to get them framed, then to get them hung, then to take pictures and then to remove the pictures from the camera and make this post. But I am glad to say I am done. The prints look great and have found their place in my house next to a couple special mounts and pictures of my children. I have the other print in my office. Thanks again for the beautiful work. Keep painting.

PS – I love the shirts I ordered.

    Best Regards,
    Will

Nice set up you have there Will. How did you get the wife to agree to mounts. I have a two story family room and could do something similar to your set up, but the wife is not big on the mounts. I really like what you have done with the addition of the Mark Ray art, very cool.

Oddly enough the wife was all for having the release mounts done. But, only because she was fishing with me on those occasions. Don’t laugh, but I surprised her with the sailfish mount for her birthday to commemorate her first sailfish catch and release. She was thrilled with the gift. Now if I could just convince her to let me get some mounts from other trips I could really fill up the wall. I think a white marlin would be a nice addition. I guess I have to take her fishing more often.

Mark’s art fits real nice with the scene.

That tree (corn plant) is in need of a pruning…..it is pushing up to the ceiling. I have cut that thing back at least three times. Might be time for more drastic measures.

Very cool. My wife likes to fish with me as well. Maybe once we get a billfish together I will be able to get the mount.

Where did you get the mounts from, it looks like very nice work?

The blue marlin on the left was done by Gray Taxidermy over ten years ago and it still looks the same as when I first got it. The sailfish on the right was done recently by Global Fish Mounts. They are both full body mounts with really nice paint jobs. I would go back to Global Fish Mounts in a second. They where the best deal and the work and colors are fantastic. I don’t know how they do the iridescent paints, but this thing looks lit and changes colors with the amount of light in the room. Gray has gotten some bad press lately, but I think their work is still quality.

All you need to provide is a total length (tip of bill to tip of tail) and they can do up a nice release mount for you. No need to kill the fish. Now all you have to do is go out there and let your wife real in something pretty. Good luck.
