Are trained to SHOOT TO KILL! That is the way it is. Its cheeper in the long run, no long drawn out court battle.Just a settlement to the family and it all goes away. However thats not the only reason they shoot to kill. Self preservation and safety for the officers is the number one reason!

Police officers should shoot to kill when they defend themselves. Otherwise they get sued by the perp or he comes up with some crap story . He causes a lot of problems when he really should just be dead
