Mako or Worldcat
I am thinking about getting a Mako 28 cc or a Worldcat 27 cc ,which one would be best for off shore fishing.

Sounds like a personal choice issue. I would set up test rides in both on sloppy days. Run em every which way.
Into the sea, following sea, side sea at different speeds.
See what you like best. Bring tissues on the cat. I hear they sneeze a lot.

Never been on a mako of that size so I cant say anything about it.
The cat has a nice ride for sure which is really nice the only thing I can say that I had a bad experience on a cat with was catching a wave wrong and it taking a hard 90.It happened twice in three trips on the cat I was on.Other than that it was a fat ride.

Sit down Shut up And fish
My family owned a 25' walk-around Mako in the late 80's. Nice ride. Good boat. A little on the light side, got tossed around some. We currently own a 23' World Cat. Great boat. Takes some nasty seas well. Yes, cats ride a little different, but once you get used to it, you're fine. I prefer the ride now. As far as "sneezing" WCs have an anti-sneezing device between the pontoons, which really cuts down on that (other cats might not have that, I don't know). Certainly try them both, as said, on a sloppy day. SFC member Fowlscay is a WC dealer. Shoot him a PM.

Our second boat is an old 23' mako. Great little boat, it has been way further offshore then it ever should have been, and tunas will literally eat off its transom. I don't know anything about the newer makos, but they always made a great boat.
That said, IMO you cannot compare to the ride and stability of a world cat. We run a 33' World Cat in Mako Mania every year. In rough conditions, the ride absolutely destroys any mono hull boat in the same class. Sure, on a calm day a mono-hull will ride faster, but for safety and stability when it gets rough the World Cat is the way to go. Coming back at 27 knots comfortably in the 33' WC going through 6-8' seas stacked tight made a believer out of me. I don't know that you can duplicate those kind of results in the 27', but I would bet money it will be a lot more stable and will run through bad conditions much better then a mono hull.
As 92 feet down said, once you learn how to drive the cats, you are set. At first you will experience an occasional snap roll until you learn how to manage it.

buy my used World Cat 33 and you will have a true battle ship that'll run circles around either of the other 2
if determined to get a 27/28 foot boat, it is hard to beat a World Cat - but I may a bit prejudiced!!

I have a 27te and a 26.6sc. Love both great ride. Private message fowlescay he sells worldcat's. Good luck.

I have owned a newer Mako 29' and would have rather been on my 1973 23' mako any day of the week. I feel they are just too light and not as tight as the older hulls. I have also fished on "Water Damage" and it is a great boat, but you really can't compare the two. There are many other deep V boats out there I would consider first and then decide what hull is best for you. But, these are just my opinions.

Pit Monkey First Class
Mako vs Worldcat, a year or so ago I was visiting a boat show with a friend, he was trying to make a similar decision. We were looking at the 20-24' sizes of both boats.
I was disappointed in the quality of the new Mako's they were not finished out nearly as well as those manufactured prior to 2002. They appear to be chopped fiberglass and had a rough finish inside the storage areas, so rough I cut myself.
The hardware was not all through bolted, hinges and latches were not the quality I had seen in the past.
The Worldcat seemed to better constructed with better material and hardware.
And yes they do ride different, cat vs v-hull. A cat tends to cut the waves not ride over them.
He ended up with a Worldcat, a very stable fishing platform and I believe a more economical boat to run. Don't know it for a fact, but I think the cat is faster than similarly powered v-hulls.
