Make A Wish Questions

Just got done dinner with the boss... We discussed the year. Where we've been and where we are going stuff. I've spoken of his generous nature before and this year it is his desire to ramp it up by making ourselves and our boats available to the Make a Wish Foundation...
I'm 100% on board with that idea and with that he has asked that I gather all the information as to what we need to do to set this up. Contacts, insurance requirements, how to, etc. I have no clue where to start but figure with this great SFC family I can get some answers. So If you have any info on this please bring it forward here... Thanks!

Hey Deep, Check out this website "www.wish-a-fish.org" & give AL a call. We've been doing this up here in VA & maryland for about 10 years now. I believe they tried to work with Make-a-Wish in the beginning and they were... let's just say not very receptive to put it nicely. I participated in the first 4 or 5 events and it was a very rewarding experience. Lately work schedule has kept me out but I really miss helping out in those events. Its all volunteer and quite a few of the local businesses really pitch in with donations such as bait, tackle, food for the cookout, prizes for the kids,raffle items etc. Several local angler clubs pitch in and setup for the event,take care of cooking and cleanup. Not to take anything away from Make-a-Wish for what they do, but this event has been very successful in the past for us. Thanks in advance for thinking of the children & families who otherwise wouldn't have the chance to experience something like this.

Boss is pretty specific about Make A Wish being his choice... I passed it along for his consideration. He wants to take those that really need it and make a memory that will make their journey easier... Surely with all the people we have on this site somebody should have some info...

Contact HoneyHole if he doesn't chime in. He does alot for that foundation including organizing events locally. Fairly certain he can steer you in the right direction. Great cause.

Make a wish stopped granting hunting trips due to pressure from animal rights groups. Is that really the kind of organization your boss wants to associate with??

I have a group in north Jersey and two down here that do the same stuff that we're looking to do. He's specific in his wish and its not my place to argue... Following instructions.
I know they stopped the hunting ofver that bear thing but fishing may be still in the game. I don't know for sure. I'd hate for some terminally ill kid to miss out on getting out because some body "thinks" that Make a Wish isn't interested... So until we find otherwise this is the direction my boss wants to go.

Deep a friend of my sons father is on the board of directors here in Miami. I will try to find his number. I have not been in contact with him for several years. We went to Cooperstown NY for a baseball tourney a few years ago. Very nice guy. By the way great idea on your bosses part. Happy New Year.
