magazines WTF?

My wife bought me a subscription a Sportfishing Magazine. What I don't get is why I don't get solicited to buy magazines until We actually buy the subscription.

The first issue came in Jan. It was a one yr subscription. Since Jan I have received 5 calls and 4 letters saying that sportfishing magazine subscription is about to expire. IT JUST STARTED. We have not gotten this magazine in the last 4 years. But now that we bought a subscription everybody and their mother is calling saying my new subscription is about to expire. WTF

Just wait until you decide not to renew your subscription - You'll get calls every hour. Just give them the local PETA # as your home number for future reference...

I get that all of the time.....I noticed that there are companies who are contracted to "extend" the subscription and will send you multiple statements,etc. which can confuse the hell out of you. The one thing that was noticeable was that their rates were high.As, the true subscription rolled around the rate was half the cost. I never received any phone calls (lucky for them) but the multiple solicitations for the same magazine seem like a negative way to keep business.

That practice pisses me off too. They got me once when I sent a check to renew 3 months after my last renewal. What is so hard about sending a notice with your last or second to last issue, saying it is time to pay for next years's subscription?

Just wait until you decide not to renew your subscription - You'll get calls every hour. Just give them the local PETA # as your home number for future reference...

Because of this practice I only deal with the magazines themselves and not these distributor companies that you fins at the boat shows.

Sport fishing mag is ran and published by a larger corp that handles salt water sportsman and like 8 other mags .....soooooo now they have your intrests and you are auto call # 125,300,908 LOL

i got the same call.....i was so confused - and then they started asking me all this info about the car..I was so confused why they didnt have that info already! I finally told the guy to take me off the list........and.....well.....ill leave that part out.
