    LOUISIANA........

Thinking about taking a long weekend down there with the girlfriend. Does anyone have any info on where to go, stay and eat in order to get the best experience for the short time being there?

Thanks very much for your thoughts.

if you wind up in the uptown area... go to a place called gillato pazzo cafe. good friend of mine owns the place.

be careful if your down on bourbon street, things get a little shaddy down there after about 1am.
best/safest hotels to stay at are in the quarter.

Kevin, I'm guessing your going to New Orleans........I'm there once a month, Satan is right, (never thought I'd say that) the quarter can get ugly, but no worries if you are smart. wouldnt suggest bargin hotels. If you want the atmosphere of the quarter, the Royal Sonesta or the Inn on Bourbon, both are cool. Sonesta has a much better bar, the Inn is less expensive. The Marriott on Canal is 2 blocks from Bourbon, and well, its a Marriott.

For Food, K Pauls on charters street. Make it a must. if you are a Filet fan get the twin towers. Red fish is also good. For lunch, Cafe Maspero on Decatur street, awesome po boys, get the roast beef, cash only, no credit cards. Acme Oyster house. Both are Inexpensive, fresh and small. tough to get a seat at 12:00

Word to the wise, when walking down Bourbon from Canal turn around when you begin to see the rainbow flags. Lastely, No matter how good an idea it seems pass on the Lucky Dog. You'll be glad you did.

Thanks for the insight. I'll let you know how we made out. We're really just going to experience the food down there. Atmosphere per se is 2nd.

    Thanks again

I'll make a meal suggestion. Eat @ NOLA's one of Emeril's finest. If you come in time you will get to see Mardi Gras.
