How about looking up something for me. Seems that you don't like my idea of mandatory (did I spell it right this time? See I can learn)service. One reason you pointed out was that it would just train them how to use weapons and such. I would be very curious to know what the percentile of convicted felons and those doing time are "honorably" discharged VET's. I'm smart enough to know that they aren't all boy scout's, but I'd be very willing to bet that the over all population is much less than the run of the mill convicts. Don't make this a racial thing, I don't need to know the ratio of minority's incarcerated. I'm pretty sure most are clear on that.
I personally kinda like the idea of my fellow brethern knowing how to do damage if it came to that. Without fail I know that the vast, vast majority would stand shoulder to shoulder (even now) to defend this Country. Cut and paste if need be. Standing by, Frank

You wouldn't have missed much even if you'd have gone with us. Wind was blowing 25 - 30 knots by noon and seas went from 1-2 to 4-6 in 30 minutes. Did well to just get the boat back through the inlet (jetties).

Sure agree on the bigger boat. Need bigger paycheck too.

Did catch some snapper (season's about to close here) and amberjack. Some kings too but don't like to admit here that we like kingfishing since I saw that funny cartoon thing posted her about those who do.

Frank, it's Friday now and only yesterday did I cease being sore in the knees and ankles from the pounding I got in those seas coming back to the inlet. Now, I'm in no way young and in shape anymore. But it that's the price of going out each time, four days of sore, I'm likely to limit my days to those where the seas are flat.

Problem is, they were flat until we got all the way out, about 27 miles. Then the wind picked up from the direction into which we were to return and they got right blustery. Sure F'd up a fishing trip as I knew I'd beat all aboard to death coming home.

Tried to run for shore as the wind direction seemed to be coming at least a bit from shore. But didn't work. Just got into shallower water where the waves, despite being less wind driven, felt the bottom and we took on hell of a beating.

Had a neighbor with me with a bad ankle from a long-ago motorcycle accident. And, he insisted on standing between the helm and the companion seat just aft of the cuddy. I pleaded with him to take a seat in the stern. But he must have felt it would result in us questioning his manhood. He stood fast where he was.

But with each pound of the hull, he grunted and groaned in pain, UUUUUUUUHHHHHH!!!!!!!!. I'm sure he paid a dearer price than I did during the workweek.

Oh, well, back alive and with fish for dinner. All well, I guess.
