Let's talk about Groups

I am a member of 4 groups. Over the last couple of weeks, I have posted in a group, joined a group (Venice, Louisiana Fishing....), and started a group (Gillrakers). There is little......no action in groups.

Questions and comments:

1. What are they?
2. What is their purpose?
3. Are they relevant?
4. How can we make them relevant?
5. How can we make them better?

I have an idea or two, but I will wait for some feedback first.

Well, basically, I thought we here on SFC are a group. Some groups get stuff done and others blow a lot of wind. I'm still looking to see if any of them think like me, now that is a tough one...

well of course lee, we are one big group. but you now how big groups work

Groups have nothing but initial interest because everything happens in the forums. What if we used the groups to store threads pertaining to the group. lets take as an example, the group I started, not because I started it, but because it is singular in nature.

Gillrakers. If the staff, or Jer or another moderator, could take threads that pertain to tarpon and copy it into the the group. that way whenever we come to the site and we want to see what has been discussed about Tarpon we could go to the group.

this would work well with several, if not all of the groups. kayak, venice, bass fishers, etc.

oh yea. somebody might want to check out, Knights. vicky55 made one post and started that group and has a link for mortgages.

I want to be a gillraker!!! I think this is a great idea, maybe once we have a few groups we can fish one another and get ranked and be put on the cover of SFC. This week on SFC we have the GILLRAKERS Vs. THE NAKED-CO-ED's fishing the famous Venice waters!!
