I want to see if this is actually possible. Everyone is always so conservation minded. Let's see if humans can actually destroy an entire species of fish. The experiment is on in the Bahamas. The Bahamian government has issued a decree that every I repeat every lion fish be desroyed. Can we actually get every single one of them? Can we actually search and destroy an entire species?
The hunt is on for you my friend. Kill Kill Kill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What do you think? Can it be done?
Everyone that I have spoken to has said it is impossible. Why is it impossible? Every other fishery that is threatened by overharvest is at "unsustainable levels", but when it comes to an invasive species they are here to stay, forever. This is even with a full on assult on their population. It just doesn't make sense. I guess we will see.![]()

this is different, kill an entire species, what about that snakefish or whatever it is in the potomoc .
Yeah it's just kill it if you see it or hook it. No harvest just Kill. The Bahamians are really taking this serious. When you go diving with a local the just start pokin and pokin and beatin every one they see. If you hook one while fishing they smash it to smithereens on the deck rock or whatever. So the question is can we actually erradicate a species?

Like GW said, I'm not so sure that we can, and the snakehead is a prime example. It should be interesting though. Why are they so numerous in the Bahamas? Are they a new species that has no predators like the snakehead or are they just multiplying like hell for some reason?
Has anyone told the Japanese that they are a delicacy? That might do it

I don't think they are any more numerous than they are in Florida. I think that is where they originated from. Some one let some loose in a Florida canal and the population took off from there. Can you see Florida declaring an all out assult on a species of fish? Any way they do taste pretty good, they just have a poison spine you have to look out for when you are cleaning them.
I am just interested to see if we as humans can actually kill every last one of them.
