Ya know its funny...i have a pair of leather short gauntlet style heavy wireman's gloves. I have yet to actually grab them in preparation for leadering a fish. I always manage to some how get grab the nastiest oldest mildew ridden moldy cotton cheapy jobs in the tackle drawer.

I actually did use the leather ones once. For a blue shark while sharking, liked them quite a bit.

I was given them as a gift, and i believe they were purchased from Melton's.
