Lay days and other dumb questions

I have never fished a tournament before so I am not sure exactly what and for what purpose is a lay day. I am assuming it is a non fishing day and what is so important about the lay day form? It seems every article about tournaments I see they mention the lay day form and why wouldnt you want to fish every day possible? Second dumb question, when it comes to conventional reels what exactly is the numbering for 20, 30, 50 ,80, 130? I know on the older penn senators it was for size 4/0, 6/0 and so on, but the new reels is it size or drag strength or what and if its size how is it determined? Im sure its going to be something so blatantly obvious Im going to have to wear the dumbass hat all day but I wanna know. If you give me a while Im sure Ill come up with some more...

Lay Days allow for boats to chose their days based on either weather, fishing conditions, or personal reasons.

ie. day one of the WMO it is blowing 35 NE. You lay and wait for better weather. It allow people more options. By being able to fish 3 of 5 days, you do not have to fish in bad conditions.

Lay Day Forms are crucial because it keeps people from fishing "extra days"

20, 30, 50, 80, 130- based on RECOMMENDED line test to be used with that reel.

I thought "Lay Days" were necessary so that the bartenders could make a little money at lunch time during the tournaments!

Lay Days can be like hump days, it depends on the tourney.

Bartenders make plenty of money during tournaments, lay days allow for crewmembers to spend winnings prematurely or drown their sorrows.

Kinda what I figured but I wasnt sure if you were only allowed to fish so many days of a tourney or not. Yeah I wasnt thingking of pound line on the reels like I said theres the dumb ass hat for the rest of today. what are the drag strengths of the before mentioned reels, any ideas?

Ok, I probable be proven wrong here. But drag usually goes from free spool to full. I prefer to set my drags at about 25% of the line strenght when at a strike. I depends on your leader size. If your fishing with light leaders you may want to set your strike drag lower to match the leader size. Some guys actually go so far as to label their reels with tape and label the actual drag at several differant spots. On important thing to remember is that the drag increases when line is taken off the spool. A spool that is half full will have about double the drag as when it was full.
