    Lake Mead squatters

Since last weekend the people/park rangers have been very busy at the lake.
The northwest side of the lake has been eradicated of the human cockroaches.
If you are not familiar with lake Mead this is where the Las Vegas wash enters the lake.
Area locations are Government wash, Crawdad cove & Boxcar cove (dirt roads 87 thru 91).
These roads were intended for emergency access to people in need of help or rescue.
Since the roads have been established people have used the area for squatting, 4-wheeling and illegal dumping. Now the area is all but closed to the public. I would go to these spots to get away from the crowds for day trips (2-wheel drive). Sometimes picking up other people’s trash and place it in the dumpsters provided at the paved roads. Not any more, three to four miles down the road was a dirt mound/moat, no access. I am glad they finally did something but I now I’m at a loss as well.
I know this is a problem in other desert locations too. Alamo lake in AZ, every year the holds a weekend trash pickup. Free camping and RV hook ups for volunteers.
Anyone else have issues with their locations, camping areas, beaches or deserts?

    First off Welcome to SFC.

As sad as it seems Thats the way it is all over to some extent. Some places are worse than others. The beach I walk is generally trash free most of the time. Sure you get the occasional bits of trash from the ocean but most of the boaters are good about bagging their trash onboard. I always carry a bag to pick up what the tourists leave on the beach.

Hope you enjoy the site and post pics of your catches.
