On a serious note i was a bouncer for 6 years or so. I worked at a lot of places featured on that show. The bar that happened in was a little dive on boardwalk. I don't even think they had bouncers in the place. In fact, during the scene this pretty big black guy runs in from off camera to help. Pretty sure that was their "security".
Anyway, a few scenarios from my day come to mind. 99% of the time there is no excuse to use physical force against a woman.
One story I have was your typical abusive hispanic male (sorry I am not a liberal, if the shoe fits...wear it) with his submissive hispanic girlfriend out at a club i worked. I worked near an emergency exit. The couple had a verbal argument right next to me where I was and I advised them to go outside as the club would not tolerate this. So the guy says to the girl "F**k you I'm leaving" He opens the door, she goes to grab him. He turns around, grabs her by the throat, and slams a steel door intentionally into her face. I was in utter shock. Immediately blood starts pouring from her face. Hailed the bouncers, they came over and attended to her. The coward then proceeds to run across the street. I called another bouncer over to help me. Well, we eventually caught him and it wasn't pretty. I was pretty heated and the other bouncer was known for being a hot head. He got one swing in before he was choke slammed to the ground. Pretty sure he pissed blood for the next couple days. We choked him so hard it broke the blood vessels in his eyes. The girl ended up needing reconstructive surgery on her face. Last I heard they were back together. Go figure.
Then there's that 1%. I've only come across that 1% during 1 instance in my 6 years working security. This enormous black girl started mauling this significantly smaller black girl. We're talking 180 lbs. here. In any event, she took her heel off and was smashing the girls face. There was blood flying everywhere. Then she turned the heel on me. To which i applied a wrist lock and she dropped it. So then she began punching me with her free hand. I told her to stop or i was going to choke her out. Finally, she bit me and it was lights out *****. Sorry. That's it.
Did i feel good about it? No. But i wasn't going to sit there and let some dumb girl stab, punch, and bite me.
