    Knife and Sheath #3

I purchased the blade online, but the handle and custom sheath I made myself. The handle I carved from Desert Ironwood, a very hard wood and the dust a complete nightmare on the lungs..The sheath is my 3rd attempt at sheath making. I tried to make a very usable working knife and sheath....

I choose a skinner style blade b/c its a good shape for general use, camp cooking and not bad for breaking down larger fish. I made some mistakes, scratched the blade on the vise but overall I am pleased the work I put in and and the end result. The handles took about 10 hrs of carving and sanding, and the sheath about 3 hrs, without dying and drying.

Overall, the entire custom knife cost about $55 and $8 worth of leather...I had been looking for an all around blade and basically found them similarly to be over $150...without the sheath...

    Thanks for looking..

    Very nice work!

You can make or buy brass covers for the vise jaws if that's what scratched the blade. Just a thought.
IE8 says this may be a phishing site....Well, DUH!!!!!!... Stupid jerks can't even spell fishing right.

That is what scratched the blade...I will look into it as polishing the scratches out has been a real hassle, especially as it is avoidable.

Once again very nice, you can also use aluminum 1" angle cut it to fit your vise.
