    Key West

I am looking to go to Key West first week of May, 5 days. Not looking for a fishing vacation, need to unwind. We have around 12 for the trip. Any ideas where to stay? We would like to be within a short walk to the bars/restaurants/square. Need a nice pool with bar also!!

May won't be a problem to find something even if you go there with no reservations. Duval Street is the strip, the place to be, and where the night action is. We stayed at a Holiday Inn Express, North Roosevelt Ave for New Years last year and like it, cheap, nice pool and bar, breakfast, no restaurant. Probably a mile from the strip. Taxis are cheap anyway. There are a lot of rooming houses closer, don't know if they'll handle everyone you're taking, or have the pools.

Any of the big name hotels over by the airport are a good bet and the beach is across the street. Most of them have pools. I usually stay on the naval base but I did get a hotel one weekend when I had a chick come down. Can't remember which one though.
There are a bunch of hotels just off Duval Street but they tended to get pretty pricey pretty quick. But like Billy said, taxis are pretty cheap. And of course you can always rent bikes. That's a big thing on the island. But you really can get a BUI so I would suggest a taxi for getting to the night life!
It's a great time down there, lots of fun to be had. I've had the "misfortune" to head down there for dive school and a dive medical course!! Life in the army can be rough sometimes!

Have stayed here on many occasions. Usually stay on the Reach side of the Resort. It has a beach and pools. Nice clean old resort that has some bigger rooms than todays typical shoebox. It is on the opposite end of Duval from Mallory Square. It is about a block away from the southern most point where everyone takes their pics.
