    Justified fishing

    Hey guys and gals,

I took my son 9yo son Jeff down to Oregon Inlet on Sunday 11/19 to fish with with a boat from Ocean City Md called "Justified". As the Mother Nature would have it she gave us an awesome day. And that was just in time, that night was calling for 50mph winds that would last for two days.

We started out 11/20 @ 5am and were fishing @ 7:30. Jeff was #3 on the line which only took about 20 minutes to get to him. He held his own against the 40lb tuna for about 1 1/2 minutes. Then he needed his Dad!

I was glad to help him out, but all I would do is help raise and lower the rod. I think he wanted more, but I told him "no way buddy your fish you bring him in". He fought it for about 20 minutes then gave up. So old dad took over, got the fish next to the boat with the leeder in hand and the tuna spit the hook. And get this Jeff blames me......... he thinks I let his tuna get away. In front of everyone he says, nice job Dad, "next time can i do it by myself!" OH YEAH you sure can buddy!

It didn't take long before he got his chance again, he was back in the hot seat. After two minutes he sounded like a little school girl....Dad I need your help again! But would I do it? Yeah I did, I can't help it, I just love the little guy so much I hate to see him in pain...So I raised the rod for him again. This time he got his tuna! He ended up for the day catching 4 tuna. He did a great job!

The best part of the whole trip was that he and I got to spend quality time together, 7 hours down and 7 hours back. On the trip home he didn't want to fall asleep, he just wanted to stay up and talk to me. That made me very happy and proud to be his Dad!

So I pose this to all of our dads here on SFC. Lets make a New Years resolution now!....... I promise to not be to busy to kneel down and listen to my children. When OUR children say "hey Dad Look at me" I will look to see them ride a bike for the hundreth time! I will take them fishing, and I will teach them to love as I love them. They are the greatest gift in the entire world, and I'm not going to miss it!

Proud father.....AKA Dad, daddy and his best friend

    Tom

ps we ended up limiting out on the boat by noon!
