I Guess That Makes Me Guilty Then,

I stay entirely too busy working. Someone has to pay for this mess.

By the way, pretty dog you have there! When he scratches at the door, he's not trying to get out to go to the bathroom, he's trying to get back to the pound. Sorry luck that dog has. Frank

He's pure-bred, Frank. His mother was a Marine Working Dog and his Father a Police K-9 at 132 Lbs.

The snipe aside, thank you for the link Mr. Longfisher. While it's probably going to be untraced, whoever made this decision should have their nuts cremated (while still attached, BTW) and dumped in a landfill. Politely put, a strongly worded letter is being drafted for Monday's mail.

Question though. The practice has supposedly been ended. It's unlikely that cremated remains can be identified at this point. What can be done to correct this atrocity?

Quite frankly it sounds like some low bureaucrat who got his ass in a crack and did something really friggin stupid.

At a minimum, there should be an addition to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and appropriate Honors - for whatever cremains are recoverable.

But I guess I fall into the same category - I don't watch Fox, ABC,NBC, CBS, CNN or any other 3 letter News show - they are all slanted one way or another... They are about entertainment these days - not about reporting the facts...

The fact that I hadn't heard of it bears no relation to my support of the troops - You can call me ignorant or unknowing - because either is true until just now.

LF - Your conclusions are faulty

Understanding You Illogic...Perhaps Just Missing the Point

    Capt.

I think you're just missing the point of my post. Not only am I incensed about the dishonor paid the deceased troops' remains, but also, as the original post points out there are many, many indignities visited on our "heros" throughout their service to the bankers, err country. And, by our collective silence about it we are a party to their many dishonors.

Then I list some of the ones I, in particular, either experienced or am aware of.

As a nation, we treat our troops like crap in every way but hanging useless ribbons on their blouses and giving lip service to honoring them on Veterans' Day each year. There's very little of substance in what we do for them, otherwise. And, much of what once was veteran benefits is quickly being dismantled by the existing Republican House of Representatives in a miguided effort to reduce deficits.

Each of you who remain silent about these things or who do not stay tuned in to our veterans' deepening plight are complicit. Speak out as loudly against the Republican House cuts in VA benefits as you do against Obama and I'll withdraw my criticisms and applaud you.

But I think few of you who are not veterans yourself will. You're part of the 95% who never served and who cannot conceptualize the near-criminal depravations visited on servicemen mostly for political and geopolitical gains and all based on lies to hapless, simple patriots. Because you tolerate the lies. Because they come from the mouths and pens of your party.

And, most especially because you can't be seen opposing your party, can you? You can't be seen in opposition to the GOP as in some twisted way you feel that amounts to betrayal of your values and that would embolden the left who you so hate? Isn't that really why you don't oppose the excesses of your party, even when it comes down to their open savaging of the troops health and disability benefits who you loudly proclaim you defend.

The remains in landfills is only one of many exemplars of how you really feel about the veterans...how you really, really feel about them. And, that's why I call them hapless.

    Active Military Political Contributions

By the way, I've read recently that the Republican party candidate to whose campaign the most dollars from rank and file active duty servicemen and servicemen flows is Ron Paul. Paul advocates dismantlement of empire.

I guess you have to be there, as I and Frank were, to figure it out.

    LongFisher,

Would it suprise you that I am in pretty constant contact with our Congressman Walter Jones Jr, about just such matter's as these. Jones happen's to be on the Armed Service's Committee aswell as on the Fisheries Committee. I get e-mail's from his office regularly about both, got one about Catch Share's funding being reduced yesterday. I happen to be seen by our local VA Doc's, they are so over whelmed with folk's and lack of money to make improvements and just upkeep. Last year they actually ran out of money at that office for toilet paper. I am one of the unforunate many VET's that rely on that office for care and med's. I will tell you this, for the absolute most part they are a pretty caring bunch that do what they can with the time and money available. When I really get pissed is when I have had to go to the Durham VA Hospital. Seem's like a whole different class of worker's there.

I wished that anyone that think's that WE owe them something, first had to go to just such a VA Hospital. It makes me want to do some not-so-Christian thing's to the "power's that be" when they even talk about cutting the budget for these guy's. I got beat up pretty good and shed a little blood myself, so yes I have some "skin in the game". But I am absolutely humbled when I walk those hall's.

My question has alway's been, how can any of our folk's in Washington think more of themselve's, than they do for the guy that's face the enemy (who ever it may be) muzzle to muzzle? They are so not worthy of getting any health care above what these guy's get. One other thing I have alway's questioned is, our VET's as a whole have not taken the skill's they were trained to perform straight to DC itself. In my humble opinion, until that day absolutely nothing will change. I personally know enough guys with soom pretty unique back ground's that could get their attentinion, pretty damned quick. Just some of the stuff I think about when I'm not working for the "man". Frank

Maybe they will, Frank. After WWI they marched on Washington. Then some things got done. There's more than 100,000 coming home soon.

But why wait. When I first heard of OWS about two months before the Zicotti park business I almost went myself. Wife got in a car accident and had a concussion so that flayed that idea.

Kid's gone. Wife recovering. Who knows.
