John Deere Introduces Three New Marine Diesels

This might be old news, but it's new to me. John Deere has produced three new diesels for the marine market. Maybe these engines have already been introduced at some of the boat shows this winter??

    The 6135SFM75 is a 13.5L 6 cylinder producing 410 - 750 hp.

    The 6090SFM75 is a 8.1L 6 cylinder producing 335 - 500 hp.

    Finally, the 6068AFM75 is a 6 cylinder producing 231 - 330 hp.

Although new to marine applications, John Deere acknowledges that "these engines are derivatives of well-established industrial engines" that have been used in "countless applications across the globe."

I'm looking forward to becoming more acquainted with these engines, particularly the 750 hp version. I'm guessing the John Deere promotional catalogue Marine Power Source has erred slightly in its description of the 750 hp version which the catalogue claims produces 750 hp @ 1700 rpm vs. 410 hp @ 2100 rpm. I'm thinking it should probably read 750 hp @ 2700 rpm. I'll have to do a little online investigation.

Update - I was wrong. Accordingto John Deere's website, the 750 hp version produces rated hp at only 2200 rpm. That's impressive. Now I just need to find out if I can squeeze one into my engine room.

I just heard about these the other day also. One of the local boat and restaurant owners went to the Boat show in Miami I guess it was. And he was telling us about those new John Deere engines. I guess you can "set" how much HP you want. Which I think you can do that with a lot of engines now, but thats how so cool how you can do that.

because they are so reliable they have been the engine of choice in stationary emergency fire pumps on high rises.

John Deere's have been around these parts for awhile, too. Here's a couple pics of my grandfather's early model Deere's. Note the older one doesn't have back tires.

Does John Deere have any contracts with any boat building companies that we are going to see these engines in?
