Anyone remember Joe Cocker at Woodstock?>
There's been many questions about his loopy performance and the lyrics to his "With a Little Help From My Friends." Well, now...WE HAVE THE LYRICS!

Good stuff....
Hysterical!
I'm an old rocker...
Who's nuts about Joe Cocker!
Who's completely off his rocker!
(At least, that's what I wrote in my letter to him!)
Come on in through that bathroom window, Joe!
Thanks.
Funny as hell and made my day.
Ah, The Mad Dog Englishman of '69----(who remembers what that means?)
I'm with ya Fred, I don't have a big CD collection these days, but a handful of Cocker albums have always been in the boat.---
Is it not only they that go out in the noonday sun. I think that it was a reference to serving in India, probably Rudyard Kipling. Who knows what Joe woulda done with that name.
In fact "Mad Dog" was a nickname given to Cocker in the late '60's and he formed a short lived band under that name (after Woodstock I think).
I remember Cocker's nick name only because he was known widly under this name in Australia. Cocker stirred quite a political uproar during this time period when he was kicked out of that Country for possessing pot and then starting a brawl a day or two later. Many Austrailians were outraged at this and put political pressure on their elected officials to allow the Mad Dog back in the Country.
My dad (the great open minded liberal that he was) declared Cocker a "Mad Dog, commie, pincko, fag" (or something to that effect), and felt that our long time friends, the Australian Government had gone to hell and a hand basket and had been taken over by a bunch of communist sympathisers. From that point on he thought of the Austrialian Government as an ultra liberal state----- all because of a Rock star, a couple of joints, and a fist fight.----- Lord, I truly miss my pop.

Glenn,
Your Pop sounds like a classic for his day. I can see why you miss him.
Cocker was backed up by another of my favorites, Leon Russel and his Shelter People on some of his work. Leon, now there was a funky, great piano player! One of Leon's backup singers was this fat lady who danced around holding a rolling pin in one hand and a baby in the other. Man, those were the days! We were so lucky to have lived in them.
Rock on!
