Settling into life in islands... Some things just like being home or in Jersey. Some things different. The marina we are in takes some getting used to. Kind of ok. Not best shape docks but power and water are good. Place is basically full but not a crew man in sight. People for the most part just parking them here and maybe have a dock attendant check the bilge or give them a quick rinse.
Transient boats come and go which at least brings some fresh faces around to talk to. Surprised to see how many see our Sea Bright, NJ on our transom and turns out they are from the same area. Hangin with some of the resort staff the accent rubs off and a call home has my missus saying "what?' a lot. I guess since shes South African and speaks with a British type accent its only fair to make her work a little understanding me.
Mid day has been too hot to get much work done so early morn and night is the time to get projects done. Being hot slows appetite down to a crawl so I find myself having to force feed myself and hydrate my self. Mid day though is an excellent time to go for a swim here and there. Allows me to scout spots to wet a line. A couple times this week I picked a fresh mutton for dinner... Pop em on the George Foreman and nuke a can of green beqans its a meal fit for a king.
Got a few "pets". A spotted eagle ray just does laps around the marina while a barracuda has adopted our hull as its shady spot. Urchins and starfish move slow but add to a neat looking back drop in the gin clear water for what is slowly becomming "home".
