It just might help if you post when you want to go, where you're leaving from, and that kinda stuff.
yea I guess it would........ gonna tow south from Canaveral... thinking Stuart or Jupiter inlets..... Mid February.... was told there was an article in CC Angler Mag a few months back but couldn't find it....
I'll second that. Run across from Ft. Lauderdale to Bimini (50 miles). Check in with customs and buy ""Cruising and Fishing permit."(was $200) Excellent fishing around Bimini, or you can next head for Nassau, fishing the Tongue of the Ocean just S. of Chub Cay. If trolling the Tongue, fish the dropoff from flats to deep water-skirted ballyhoo will be just fine. Water around 100-300' will produce. (If you get into shallower water, the baracuda will prolly find your bally before the wahoo.) Good Luck.
Where abouts are you heading to? West End, Bimini or around to the Abaco's? I know some of the marine stores (West Marine, Boaters World) sell some very good books on the Bahamas. I have "The Cruisers Guide to the Abaco's" and it is great. I would not go without it. It gives the courses from various ports and L/L numbers for everythng. It is especially handy for transiting the islands and entry into harbors. It can get pretty tricky in some spots. I use it every time I go.
Mid Febuary, you probably want to go to Bimini or West End. Bimini being further sound, you would want to leave from Fort Lauderdale or Miami. For West End, Id leave from West Palm or Boynton. I slightly prefer West End because the shape of Grand Bahama affords you protection in either an East or North Wind where you can fish the lee of the island. And if you want to bottom fish or deep drop, Ive had much better luck between fifteen and thirty miles of West End than I have around Bimini. Just my 2 cents.
