Don't you think it is a product of our particular brand of capitalism, free-market capitalism?

You're not dummy. I know you know that there are other forms of capitalism, right? They exist in places like Sweden and elsewhere. But the markets are regulated. Although I'll admit that European capitalism is shifting more and more each year towards out form of capitalism, so far, at least, their more regulated form has largely insulated them from the worst debauchery of our system which has become a boom and bust cycle every few years.

I propose that the Me derives directly from free-market capitalism.

Oh, yes, and although I think some of the Tea Party antics are entertaining and perhaps even a bit silly, I do refrain from criticizing them. As long as the Republican party does not coopt them they're the freshest thing I've seen in politics since Ross Perot. I have a wait and see attitude towards them.
