Raising a teenager usually involves a "screw you dad" attitude. Its a part of life... Missus Deep is off in Ohio at a friends bachelorette party so I've been just chillin...
Had a quiet valentines day. Then worked it from sun up to sundown... Now Mini is pretty indedpendent. Works two jobs, full time school, and a steady boyfriend. Its perfectly understandable and almost expected that I'm gonna be ignored with a schedule like hers...
Then here comes the nice twist... "Hey Dad, we jst picked up fillet mignons. You want fried rice with yours?"
Out of the clear blue my little Mini and her beau just whipped up a first class dinner and were thoughtful enough to include me in it... Might be that she's growing out of the "phase". No its not earth shattering but right now I'm a lucky Dad...

Falling for the oldest trick in the book. Befriend the pops with a steak dinner and you are in! This guy is good, I think he may have even studied my memoirs. Never let up your guard you have a teenage daughter! Deception is their MO! You must be getting old. Good luck with the beau hope he is a good kid!

She bought em. He cooked em... As far as boyfriends goes, I really could not ask for better... He, like her, is a gifted straight "A" ap student. His aim is pre med while she's pointed at business. Kinda cool watching them study... They actually study for real. Not like when I was a kid...
They've been an item for about a year now... I'm no fool as I was that age not all that long ago. They're both smart enough and respectful enough to keep it under the radar...

I've had my challenges with teenagers (got only one left now) but in general I have not experienced the nightmares that I've heard about either. Maybe it's because I have boys? I think it could have been worse with girls??? Dunno and never will...!!!

Anyway, you and Mrs. Deep should give yourselves a lot of credit for how she's turning out. It really does start at home, doesn't it?

P.S. Oh yea, and as far as their girlfriends are concerned - I wasn't too sure how I'd feel about it. To tell you the truth, I find most teenaged girls pretty useless and I expected to simply tolerate them. But my boys surprised me, for the most part, by hooking up with girls who were intelligent and interesting, hard-working students with good career goals whose company I enjoyed!!!

Last night was just a bit different instead of the shoulder shrug and grunt I usually get... Or the bird she flips me when she thinks I'm not looking... The boy has a good deal of respect for me... I'm not sure if "sweeping" coconuts off the lawn with a fly gaff has anything to do with it but he does call me Mr. Deep Sir...
