I thought ya had to be thru the bridges before 7:30 as they are locked down from 7:30 - 9:30 for commuters. Anyhow, make sure you bang a left at marker 173 to head down Pamlico sound unless you are taking the ditch. By the way, you can run the sound almost straight on one heading if you look at the depths instead of running the "suggested" course, from marker to marker. Just watch out for a couple of sandbars that are marked. I used to zig zag from point to point til I figured that out. I made it from Sneads Ferry one time all the way to Norfolk running boat by myself (with wife) on the 43 Viking. Long day.
Not sure with the forecast weather what side to go down... The big sounds would be ugly but they could lock down alligator bridge... I usually make morehead in about six hours from the Jock...
Well... I'm in Morehead looking down the bow of the black boat and not a soul in sight? No parades, no lines of fans to sign autographs for. Just a couple tumbleweeds and a buzzard or two...
Hell you could skeet shoot in town here with no fear of pellets raining on a person...
Even "my restaurant is closed and I'll have to miss my bluecheese burger for dinner...
Oh well, at least I'm here and didn't break the boat...
Oh well, at least I'm here and didn't break the boat...
or ... run aground. Did you take Pamlico Sound? I'm heading to Hatteras Sunday for some fishing Monday. I hear the Tuna bite is heating up. The ticker tape parade was in NY, sorry ya missed it!
Set a new record burning fuel today but made all the way to charleston... Came across an eerie debris field from a boat that went down yesterday... 63' from what I hear...
Weather is ok to Florida border but then turns to shit from there down for as far as the forecast reaches...
