IF YOU USE GMAIL EMAIL & OUTLOOK

I ran in to some major problems over the past week or so and I just wanted to share this with others in case they too are having problems or to prevent problems.

When I set my account up I followed gmails instructions of set up with outlook.

It had me setup my outlook account with the "IMAP" settings and I did just that. My email account was a bit strange but I figured that was the way it was supposed to be.

I did not have my laptop a few days 2 weeks ago and I didn't check or download my mail for 2 days. When I opened it up I had 64 emails to be downloaded.

Every time I would go to send and received outlook would lock up forcing me to force outlook to close via end task.

After reading and research and cleaning out documents old emails and anything else I could think of. I finally found another way to set the settings needed.

Problem was all my old sent emails and new inbox emails exported back over to the google server and now I can't find a damn thing Large emails with photos have totally vanished or I have yet to find them.

Moral of the story is that if you do high volume email thru outlook and gmail DO NOT set your gmail to IMAP settings.

I am sure that I just had things setup wrong and it wasn't working properly from the start. What a pain in the butt this is

Let me guess sweetpea you just upgraded your XP with the all new dancing 5 or whatever !!! Microsoft those Idiots screwed half the world, did you use outlook express or just outlook as your main email receptor? if outlook express open that again and make it your main, found that half my e-mails was going one way and the other half into outlook, not outlook express, if you understand, still had everything, thank goodness just spread about across two inbounds. if you cannot come right just go back to a date before your update and "System restore" at that date via accessory's system tools, on your main all "programs" via or start button, bottom left of your screen, and start again hope this helps.

I would leave gmail as web based access. google and outlook dont mis too well. I find outlook crashes alot and really goes nutz when your computer goes into stand by mode.

Been using gmail since it's inception with Outlook with no issues?
Lucky I guess.
