IF We Accept the Illogic that Allowing a Tax Break To Lapse Is a Tax Increase...

...then the Republicans are raising taxes by not continuing the payroll tax holiday that most recently shaved about 2% off most middle and lower class member's payroll taxes.

Perhaps equally as important, the Republicans, by allowing these tax breaks to lapse, will be increasing taxes not only on individual working citizens in the middle and lower classes, but also, on the small businesses that they pretend to care about.

The lack of consistency here exposes Republican ideology for exactly what it is, hypocrisy.

Interesting how the ping pong ball of INCOME TAX gets batted around... some argue for, some argue against a raise... when in reality, INCOME TAX for most working Americans is illegal to begin with.

Now, once the veil of this distraction is firmly discussed by the media asshats and the crime-syndicate we know as American politicians (the right hand)... no one is keeping an eye on what the left hand is doing.

before someone starts with the "oh S&B is one of THOSE conspiracy nutz", let me begin with the facts.

Of the 48 states in 1913:

Eight states (Rhode Island, Utah, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Kentucky, Florida, Virginia and Pennsylvania) did not approve or ratify the amendment.

Texas and Louisiana were forbidden by their own state constitutions to empower the federal government to tax.

Vermont and Massachusetts rejected the amendment with a recorded vote count, and only later declared it passed without a recorded vote after the amendment was declared ratified by Knox.

Tennessee, Ohio, Mississippi, California and Washington violated their state constitutions in their ratification procedures.

Minnesota did not send any copy of its resolution to Knox, let alone a signed and sealed one, as required.

Oklahoma, Georgia and Illinois made unacceptable changes in wording.

Take 48 states, deduct these 21, and you have proper ratification by only 27 states -- far less than the required 36.

    Interesting????

Mr Longfisher, you sir live in a state where there is NO INCOME TAX... same for the Florida folks and a few others. I refer you to the above list... why and how could this be interesting to you?

That takes me full circle to my original comment... when the ping pong ball is being batted around, you better keep an eye on other "taxes"...in your case, property taxes...and as an edit, SALES TAX. *** second edit, thought I would add this and compare it to the historical list above.

    States with no income tax
Alaska (Came to the party AFTER this robbery took place)
    Florida (Yep, on the list)
Nevada (over turned illegal taxation codes)
New Hampshire (yep, on the list)
South Dakota (over turned illegal taxation codes)
Tennessee* (see * below, yep, on the list)
    Texas (yep, on the list)
Washington (voted for...then over-turned later as it was against state's constitution)
Wyoming (over turned illegal taxation codes)
*Note: New Hampshire and Tennessee don’t tax wage income, but they do interest and dividends. The applicable rates are 5% and 6%, respectively.

    I'm confused.

I thought we were initially talking about Federal Income Tax. But your response seems to be now about State Income Tax.

So, what's the topic of this thread now?
