you sound like a reasonable yankee fan, a rare bird i must say. i think 2 of 3 will not do it though, they need 10 out of the next 3, a train wreck it is! i agree w/ jacko. well shld be fun.
This is it...3 games to either shake up the sox or update the resume...
GO YANKS!
It's been a tough year...wettest summer on record since they have been keeping records. Until mid July, it was short period 5-8's just about every weekend. No one got out. Near shore waters have never cleared up, but the past month (with the exception of Dean)... the gulf has been flat. We have had good fishing at 35-40 miles offshore. Water temps are currently upper 80's. Mahi have been good, Cobia have stayed and been hungry. Since no one could ge out, the Red Snapper (albeit a 2 fish limit) has been great and the wahoo bite has been hot! The tuna (yft) has been slower than norm...and the blackfin has been normal if you can find a shrimper culling his nets. Have not seen the massive weedlines, just bits and pieces trying to form up. Been seeing some nice marlin catches as well.
I've been putting the Avets and Trevalas to the test on some big AJ's... so far, they are winning, but there has been some good battles. Also, maybe it's due to the lack of pressure, but the grouper bite has been better this year...not great, just better than the past years.
I tried making a comment to some guys down here about the true offshore season (due to water conditions)...how there is no difference between south Texas and the Cape...as usual, they just told this dumb yankee to head back north... Just might do that.
like Brian, I was wondering how long it would take you to catch up to this one. Nice to have you back in the battle. There's a good one going in the New England forum that you should check out- you'll enjoy it. Hope all is well and that you're having fun down south. Oh yeah...by the way...yankees suck!![]()
Hey Shoe...thanks! Looks like Captn Caveman just hit a dinger...5-3...
Let's see if the Sandman can hold this one tonight.
Surprise surprise...tito left the starter in too long...
Glad to have you back Galazio do you target any tiderunners, weakfish, seatrout
I hear they have some nice size one down there along with the reds
...You guys are as quiet this morning as I've been all season...
Brian, We'll go after the trout & redfish if it's too rough offshore. Right now, the best and biggest fish are being caught by going out the jetties and running up the beach, fishing the second cut in the surf. They are great tablefare. Yep, we are known for the trout and redfish...but you have to lookout down here if you are not in a very shallow drafting boat. You can be 10 miles from shore in the laguna madre and be in knee deep water. My boat doesn't like those conditions.
