    I went to Mississippi Today

I had to take my son to the orthodontist today to get spacers put in, the orthodontist is in Pascagula, Miss. anyway got to talking to Dr. Mayfield about how he faired for the storm.. he said he had 2 cars 1boat and his house all was gone... washed away.. He had tears in his eyes while he was talking about it...

I drove around a bit and the smell of mold is in the air, walls are blown or washed away from the hurricanes, they were still working to get the power restored, I saw power trucks everywhere.

I also saw a HUGE military ship sitting high and dry with its lines still tied off.. my son said " Mom, why do they have lines tied to the boat There is no way anyone could steal that could they?" I said that was the lines to keep the boat from floating off during the storm he said "I think the lines worked to well...now it is stuck on dry land"

We saw shrimpboats sitting on side of the interstate... that is a really weird sight..

I saw a sign that had about 5" pipes holding it up, and it was bent over like something pushed it ... but a local told me it was the force of the water!

You see MANY MANY cars with Mississippi tags and you can tell they have ALL they own in their cars....WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN IF THEY CAN'T FIND A PLACE TO LIVE THIS WINTER?

there are no places to live all of the houses, hotels, apartments are all full...

The people of other states may have forgotten about what has happened here...but we have a constant reminder of it,

Just please find it in your heart this Christmas to help out the families in Mississippi and Louisiana ..... There are still so many people who are homeless... I was thinking today... If that storm had moved JUST 60 miles east... I would be one of the people living out of my car and my life would be totally in shambles.. No A/C no water no shower ....

SO when you walk by a bell ringer this holiday season... Think of Mississippi and toss a couple of dollars into the pot.

Also if you would like to donate a new toy for a child or an adult just contact me and I will give you some information on where to send it.

Thanks for all you have done for us down here... Keep praying for the people of Mississippi and Louisiana.

These stroms have been gone since August and September and there are so many people who their lives are still in shambles. I just hope things will get back to normal soon but I know that it will take years.
I was sitting here thinking about how nice it is to have a warm house to sit in and as stove to cook my scrumptious meals on. And in the mean time the sufferers of Hurricane Katrina and Rita are still living the hellish nightmare that we all pray would not happen to us. I was wondering if anyone would have helped me? Yep probably, The members here on SF are very caring and considerate people.
There are families still living out of their car... I saw it for my own eyes yesterday. I feel so bad for the people living here and over in Mississippi and Louisiana and Alabama it is starting to make me depressed. I am getting to the point to where I do not want to leave my house!! What is happening to me is this normal ... It is like it is SOO massive and there is nothing I can do to help...I am the take charge kind of girl when it comes to human suffering...but I have realized I can only do so much and it makes me sad. I do not have that kind of personality where I get sad or depressed I always feel happy but lately I feel just sad.

If you have experienced this please either pm me or whatever you want to do but I need to know is this part of the process or am I losing my mind?

Surfergirl, I've never been in a situation like yours but I think it would make me not want to leave my house like you.
