i think i seriously did some damage!

so..i work out pretty hardcore...at least 5 days a week..but i do something active at least every day.
    Running.5-6miles..
Yoga..for the past 6years....well yesterday i did about a 15 mile bike ride. wonderful felt great. i hadnt ride sonce i was little girl.

well i was in yoga class today. in a deep hamstring stretch..and all of the sudden i heard RIPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP.....the loudest crack/rip sound i ever heard. my back collapsed and the muscle stretched over the bone.

OWWW......So the question is HOW DO I FIX THIS......i dont think i ripped it. but i defin pulled it hardcore. im sittin on the couch alternating between heat and ice.....

I NEED YOUR TIPS ON THE BEST WAY TO MAKE THIS BETTER.

I've gotten relief from pulled back muscles with a chiropracror.
Some people like em some people dont.
They work for me for normal pulls.
dont think they can fix damage.

If it's real bad you might want to see a medical doctor to determine the amount of damage.

    hope this helps.

Sometimes even the best conditioned folks can push something a little further than its used to, a little longer than its used to, in a fashion its not used to. Having not ridden in so long your back musculature wasn't accustomed to the odd geometry and the sustained load riding a bike 15 miles put on it. Its not immediately obvious but the forward extended lean of a typical bicycle stance and the and alternating leg extensions of pedalling torque your lower back in unique ways that'll definately tweak something if its been a while. I'd say all of the above...alternate the hot cold and if things don't seem right in a day or two seek the advice and treatment of a dok-torr.

I don't know if this will help you but as someone who has had a real bad back for many years (since I was around 11), I've been doing stretching excercises almost every morning for years. If I don't stretch for a couple of days, I'll be in pain. If you can, give it a shot - it really helps when I throw it out. I learned this in Physical Therapy back in the 80's.

    I do this in bed
Lie on your back, lift your right knee putting your hands on your leg just below the knee, pull your knee to your chest 5 times (as close as you can get - if you're in pain, it might not be much but that's okay). Switch to your left leg - repeat. Do each leg 5-10 times.

While on your back, lift your right leg straight up so it's pointing in the air. While keeping your leg straight, try to touch the bed on your left with your right foot 5 times - keeping your shoulders flat on the bed. Switch to left leg and repeat. Do each leg 5 - 10 times.

While still on your back, lift your right leg with your hands behind the knee. Pull towards your chest 5 times. Switch to left leg and repeat. Do each leg 5-10 times.

The idea here is to keep the muscles stretched to help them heal. I'm not sure what you did so if your in too much pain you might want to see a professional. Ultrasonic cortezone massages can be very helpful...

Good luck - I hope you're feeling better.

thanks for the help....i think im gonna lay off the bike.
alternating ice....and heat...was low on ice so it resulted in me grabbing bags of frozen vegetables....its feeling alittle better...but we shall see over the next few days.

talked to a friend who said as long as i didnt have to knots on either side of my leg...it wasnt ripped....WE SHALL SEE.

The worst my back ever went out was when I turned my head to the right and heard a CRACK and I was in bed for a week. I finally got up when my wife put HEET on it and I got in the shower to try to wash it off, But it didn't wash off and I would wake up a month later and it was on fire. Well, it felt like it was anyway. GET WELL SOON
