    Angry i need to vent!!!

i have a 24ft wellcraft airslot. boat has a newer 5.7 mercruiser with a bravo 2. holds 125gallons of fuel.i have a decent amount of "offshore" gear. a few 50's some 30's ect ect. my boat went down to the valve covers back in july. not a DROP of water got into the motor. new alternator new power steering pump all pullies have been sandblasted and powdercoated. problem was addressed boat has been running friggin great! now here is my issue........i have a buddy with a 20ft center concole with a 130hp outboard and 40 gallons fuel. i have asked him to go out with us tuna fishing multible times now and he always has something to say about my boat like na i want to run my boat out to where ever."thinks his boat is a friggin viking". his favorite thing to say is oh your boat is just to slow...but when he FOLLOWED me out to the sea isle ridge last week and i had to slow down multible time for his "faster" boat to keep up in the 1-3 footers. he didn't have much to say. so here i am again i asked him to hop on and run out with us this saturday coming up and now its i want to stay on my boat it never went down. thinks he is going to run to the cigar in his offshore machine. now don't get me wrong my boat is no canyon machine but i feel a little better about going out to find fish with the extra 4 feet and 80 gallons of fuel. and another think i'm not saying it's not possible to run out in a smaller boat but when asked to go get the fish do you always have to insist on taking your boat out cause you want to catch one on your boat"he has never caught a tuna/mahi" if it was me i would jump all over the chance to go out on someone elses boat just to learn something instead of being hardheaded and wanting to waste my time on my boat! whew ok i'm ok now end of rant.

Just quit asking him. I mean i know you want to go with your buddy and all but if he doesnt appreciate it just tell him when you are going and ask him if he wants to run along. he will come around eventually when he sees you catching fish and him not and you not being beat all the pieces when you get in to the dock.

I think I posted this up a year ago. I consider it the Boat Owners Invatation phase.

Phase 1 - You don't own a boat and practically have to beg to go out on other peoples boat. sometimes you get the invite but for the most part you just read about it on Sf.com or charter a boat two or three times a year.

Phase 2 - When you own a boat you get asked every weekend to go out on someone else's boat. You are part of the club and forthe most part understand the expense and work that goes into it.

Phase 3 - You figure it out. It is stupid to own a boat. all your new friends own boats and ask you to go out every weekend. Why not sell it and go out on your buddy's boat.

Phase 4 - You sell your boat and the next season is great. You go out with all the guys that own boats.

Phase 5 - The invitations stop coming because other boats owners have popped up and taken your place on your friend's boat. back to chartering and wishing you owned a boat.
