I have had this same discussion with both of my step kids.
Think of it this way: If your new employer can't respect giving notice, what kind of treatment or concern do you think he/she will give you down the road?

Have a little class, it goes a long way in the end.

I gave my 2 week notice and there were lots of tears shed.. I have not been working for the company for long but I have become very close with everyone there even the owners.. They said they wished I would not go because I have done such a great job and am the most dependable employee they have had in a long time... and they also said that if it does not work out I am always welcome to come back.

i agree with pino on this one. I usually pay them the 2 weeks and let them move on. their heart is not in the current job they hold and are focused more on their new job.

Okay so I need to quit one job in order to go to work at a better paying one.. the only thing is my new job wants me to start NOW.. but I told them I have to at least give the company I am working for a two week notice.. but really I want to quit today and start right away... what would ya'll do?

Give notice. Chances are your employer will want you outta there right away. I know I would. Less chance of you corrupting my other workers.

Good job kid! As several others have said, always keep your options open down the road and, frankly, if an employer thought so little of you that he/she'd force you to go against your best instincts in doing what's right and fair, they don't deserve you. Best regards,
