Cool I Hope Today Ends Soon

Started off center and only got worse.... We all get em so mine is nothing special but I thought I'd share anyway...

Got up way bright and early. The hell wind quit. I was fired up to get an early start head to Miami, doa bunch of tournament prep, fuel up then go test run my wahoo spread and then do a solo sword drift. Its been too long without killin something and I was chompin at the bit.
Went to the garage and started thawing a bunch of squids. While they softened up I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and put on some deoderant. Last night I had a squeaky cabinet hing that some wd40 fixed quick. Well That can was set down where my right guard usually is and well... Lets just say my left arm doesn't squeak any more.
Ok the first time for that combo. Still better than the time I grabbed the raid instead of Off repellant.
No biggie I wiped the wd off with a corner of my tee shirt and finished that. Went down and rigged the squids. All ready to go when I found out I had to take Mini for breakfast. Did that and was ready to go... almost... Forgot my deck brush back on the Deep C.
Ok so now its not a good early start. Wait... Auto insurance is due. Turn back to the house and get that done on line. Ok now I can go.
Get to Miami... Somebody forgot to tell me that with the wind dropping out it was going to be well back in the 90's. I had briought down sodas and other heavy stuff we would need for the tournament late next week. In the blistering sun I loaded ot from my car to the boat. Took a look and the rod holders that were supposed to be installed in the boat last week weren't there... They forgot...
As they drilled away and mounted. I tried to get my dead live welll pumps to work but it just wouldn't happen. Dead is dead. I continued piddling. Installed the new chip and dialed in a bunch of spots on the E120 GPS. Now time to struggle. I lifted those big Top gun riggers into place. 18' of torque on about 6 pounds of rigger can feel like a ton. Set them in and went to put the pins in. Ooops... had em backward. Finally got em right. Discovered I had drilled the pin holes when the riggers were cold and in the heat the pins just dint want to fit. Another half hour fight and I was good to go.
I went to the bow to replace the bow light bulb. It had been an act of congress to find the right one. Took apart at an odd angle laying on the pulpit. Looked and bulb seemed ok. Had the guy flip the switch with the light about 2" from my eye. It was... Now temporarily blind in that eye, note to self. Next tiime tell boss that switch flips two ways...
In the heat sweat poured into my eyes. Over and over I wiped them dry only to get burnt by the salt. I used different pieces of my tee shirt each time... Remember the wd40 from the morning? Well I found that...
Finally its time to go to the fuel dock. Should be simple boss authorized his card for fuel after my last trip down there. Marina lost the info. Sorry no fuel. Sorry no wahoo practice. Sorry your dozen $8 each squids were rigged for nothing. I can refreeze but just not the same. Grrrrrrrrrr.
Ok Deep... Lets make the best of it. A trip to Baitmasters... They're out of the size I wanted... I got it! A trip to Bass Pro... They're out of the slugs I wanted and their duck loads doubled in price over last time I got some there... Surely a trip to my super secret bait supply house will come up with some baits that are right... Nope!
Three wrecks between A and Z and the ride home was painful at best. There is an envelope from the Coast Guard. My new license weeks late? Nope... For some reason they sent me an application package???? I went to call. A dozen busy signals then "sorry we are closed"! A minute late!
My feet are burning now . I kick off my shoes and settle into some rigging. Ooops wrong crimps. Get back to my bench and phone rings. I dash inside and forgot about the tack strip where the carpet meets the tile kinda poking through. Lay open foot getting to phone. A solicitation... I'm on the do not call list...
Clean up blood spots on carpet. I decide to relax by immerse my self in my favorite place, SFC... Some body broke it! I hereby declare I'm done with today...

    You've had a day, I've had a week.

Sunday started off fine. We have a new storage building (barn) built and I want my garage back. So Sunday afternoon I moved stuff from the garage to the barn. About 5:30 I stepped out of the barn, turned my left foot over and went straight to the ground.

    Holy Mother of Pearl

Hobbled around, getting the garage and barn closed, tools put away and getting cleaned up, then to the emergency room. By now I can't use that foot at all.

Good news, nothing broken. Bad news, ankle sprained. I hate crutches.

After spending 2 1/2 hours at the hospital, sent home with prescriptions, that incidentially we had to stop at Walgreen's and fill on the way home. Took another half hour. In pain the whole time.

I get Naproxcen and *******. Neither cut the pain. Very little sleep that night.

Monday, can't go to work. Found some good pain pills left over from my last kidney stone attack. Finally, pain free. Ankle and foot swelled up huge, and bruises on all toes and around my heel.

Tuesday, can't go to work. Pain has subsided, ******* now works. Daughter won't go to bed this night.

Wednesday, go to work on crutches (did I say I hate crutches?) Stuck at my desk, bored out of my skin. Daughter made to shower and put on PJ's immediately after completing homework. She really loved that!!!! She went to bed real early as well.

Thursday and today, no crutches, but still stuck at the desk. Daughter lost a tooth Thursday and we forgot about the tooth fairy visit. Daughter VERY UPSET this morning. I'm going home early and take a nap before I pick her up from school.

Doesn't look like I'll get my garage back anytime soon.

Showering was a challenge last night... With all that wd40 absorbed the water just beaded off... Today was mostly good. Then while rigging stuff in my garage I decied to step out side and stretch. Kaboom!!!!! Bolt of lighting came down real close. NEver saw it comming . Storm snuck up from other side of house and this was the first bolt. Now I have fingerprints where I clutched my chest and its gonna take some C4 to unlock my bung that slammed shut. ...

Not to worry Deep everyone gets in a not so good groove like that from time to time. The best way I've found to "re-balance" is slow down, quit going over the personal to-do- list in your head, fall back to some old tried and true tackle that's not the latest and greatest and do something nice for someone without even thinking about it or, what YOU have to do! After that everthing will be right back in orbit.

My fall back plan involves rigging stuff. Re rigging last seasons stuff. Rigging stuff i know I'll need this season and next. Its soothing. Been basically doing it for weeks. Oh well, not gonna worry about it. Never have neough rigs so I'll just keep doing that. It the nature of our slow season.
Was hoping to break the boredom yesterday and stock up on some sword steaks but it just didn't pan out. Not the end of the world. Wasn't really upset. Infact I thought the roll I was on was funny and thats why I shared. I'll get some practice time in the two days before the first tournament it self and I'll be able to do that where we will be fishing so just as well.

Well even fall back stuff has its hidden dangers. I was palying with a few lure heads that had some sharp edges. No problem... Toss em on the grinder and smooth em out. That all sounds good ... until you drop a head and bend down to pick it up... with the grinder still spinnin...
Not quite to the scalp but I now have a inch wide row about two inches long that the hair's only a 1/4" long...
I think I'm gonna go inside and watch TV. Hope the remote doesn't catch fire.
