The problem isn't you..or your girlfriend, its what your daughter perceives as a "replacement" for her mother.Doesn't matter who you bring home..she'll hate her. your girlfriend and daughter need to become friends..or at least try to communicate. i agree with Hubris, its your roof shes living under, if she wants to dole out ultimatums..shoot a few yourself. Lots of good advice here. I'd agree that you can't let a 17 Y.O. run your life.

The only other suggestion I'd offer is, if you can't get everyone to sit down and have a rational conversation you might consider a therapist. Sometimes it helps to have an impartial referee who knows what questions to ask to get people to be honest about their motives.

Hey guys, thanks to everyone who has shared personal experiences. It just sicken me that she has chosen to act this way. I am not perfect, but I am not letting go of my GF either. I love my daughter and will continue to try to break through. But I cant stop loving someone else just to please her. I want her to be happy I really do. I do think after a little time has passed and we start talking again maby thearpy is in line.

Get to the root of the problem.......there must be a reason, find out what it is and try and work on it......communication is the key, talk it out.....even though you may not agree with her reasons...she obviously feels strongly enough for her actions....not saying they are right.....talk it out man, still going through it being one year divorced with 14 and 12 year old daughters......there is no easy way.

But if I didnt handle it, she would be handling me. And Im not about to go down that irish road. Remember, men are famous for what they do, woman are famous for who they F#$%! Did I mention I have no regrets? Show me the rules, Ill play by them. BTW, I dont have any kids.....
