I loved watching mash with my dad......it was funnier with Frank Burns than Winchester.....but loved the show and when ever I see it on I have to watch. It was also better with Cl. Potter than ....hell I cant remember his name lol.
but what about Magnum PI? That was the best show ever...I just don't get today's TV...with shows like MASH, and All in the Family, Brady Bunch..I actually cared about the characters...but who gives a crap if some housewife in Atlanta gets a new Mercedes and Liposuction?...and don't get me started on the Bachelor show or America's fattest dick head ...all so stupid..
M*A*S*H and All In The Family, I could have done without the leftist undertone. But aside from that they exactly explain the difference. Creativity. The people who wrote those shows weren't raised on pure TV. They read books and listened to radio. People today are spoon-fed everything, and dumbed down by the dip$#it news media and our agendized education system. Very few of them have the least spark of imagination. Carol Burnett was asked if she could do her show today, and she said no. The writing talent just isn't there. "Reality" TV is about the cheapest way to fill an hour of airtime that there is. Hence it's popularity with networks. The above explains it's popularity with audiences.
BTW, I loved Magnum, but IMHO the greatest television show ever is The Honeymooners.

He also designed some sort of fishing rod...never seen it and not sure what it was designed for. I dont think it ever made a impact on fishing. Another little factiod......he was born in Bristol Ct...not that anyone cares.
Im in a TV store years ago flippin one of the TV's and I come across that show. I start to watch it and laugh........This woman comes up to me and scolds me for thinking that was funny.
