Hurricane season has started early. The hurricane that wiped out New Jersey took sight on Boston and last nite Boston was wiped out in an exciting overtime game. It looks like the Hurricane has turned around and is headed inland to hopefully lay waste to Pittsburgh. GO CANES!

All right first of all I am 'Burgh fan through and through so I am biased, but I dont get it. Can somebody explain to me why there is a fricken hockey team in the Carolinas? If it wasnt for cold drinks you bunch of Rednecks wouldnt even know what the hell ice was! Having a hockey team south of the Mason Dixon line is pure blasphemy!! Its wrong!!!! Its not like little rednecks grow up playing hockey with brooms on the pond out back. It makes my head hurt just thinking about! Ok Im done, Here we go Penguins, here we go!!! No way the Canes are gonna wreck the Igloo!!!!!

Let's analize this properly and analitically without all of the team biases.

A Hurricane is a force of nature. It's organized, very large, immensely strong, and lays waste to most anything in it's path. With technical precision, it can undo in mear hours what mankind has taken centuries to create. It is nature's great eraser! It doesn't feel fear or pain and once it has been formed, there is no stopping it until it completes it's course. It relentlessly batters anything in it's way with bands of brute strength and awe inspiring forces until they crumble. It is an amalgam of storms that have grown together and function as one. It is the perfect storm in and of itself.

A Penguin is a flightless bird, an oddity of nature. Sadly, it has traded it's wings for flippers over the eons and must now waddle from land based predators only to swim into the gaping jaws of yet another- The killer whale. (FYI-Before the Hurricanes became the Hurricanes, they were the Whalers). The Penguins' only defense in life is it's ability to flee. It cowers in the darkest, coldest places of the planet in desperate hopes of minimizing the numbers of predators that it must flee from. They can only function well in a large group but fail when their numbers are small. The male relegates itself to the role of baby sitter once their young have hatched while the female heads out to sea to stuff herself full of smelt and sardines. It is very difficult to tell the difference between the male and female in most penguin species. On a positive note, the penguin makes for a very popular stuffed animal for children and are quite amusing characters in the movies Madagascar I and II.

Based on this completely unbiased and scientific approach to choosing the probable winner, I think that clearly the Hurricanes should be the favored team.

If carolina can skate like they did in game 7 they will wear the penguins out. KEEP CROSBY OUT OF THE CREASE! All but one of his goals came from the crease in the caps series.

It's hard to believe that Scott Walker played as well as he did this past series with the pressure he was dealing with at home. He and his wife were waiting to hear back on some tests that unfortunately came back positive for cervical cancer. The poor guy could hardly keep his composure in the post game interviews but he never spilled his guts.

Keep his wife in your prayers. They think they caught it early enough that they can successfully treat her and cure her.

The reason there is Hockey in NC is all the Yankees that moved to the Triangle area needed a sport to watch since most are not ACC Basketball fans(except for the New Jerseyites who pull for Dook). What they didn't expect was many of us native NC Rednecks like watcthing hockey even though we don't understand the game. It has fighting and blood so it was a natural fit for us. Go Canes.
